Sarlat

Wednesday is market day in Sarlat. Stalls selling local produce set up in the morning in the old city. By 2pm all the stalls have packed up and moved on.

Produce that caught my eye: Whole stalls selling this season’s strawberries, fat white asparagus, huge óx-heart’tomatoes, tiny new potatoes, 101 kind of dried sausage. Lots of stalls selling cheeses, hard, soft and smelly.  Duck, goose, bread (none of it was in a wrapper and all looked delicious), olives, tapenade, flowers. And two stalls offering discounts on very sharp looking knives.

Come the market, come the tourists. Someone told me that in summer, ‘It gets busy on market day’.

The blog posts might be a bit erratic as the Wi-Fi is inconsistent. I’m writing the post in Word and transferring it to WordPress when I have a connection.
